Anti Ragging Cell

Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has an effect of teasing, threatening or handling with rudeness of a fellow student is considered as ragging. Kerala State in order to avert the menace of ragging had enacted Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act 1998 (the Act), which casts a duty on the head of the institution to prohibit ragging. As per section 4, whoever commits, participates, abets or propagates ragging shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years and a fine upto ten thousand rupees. Section 5 provides for dismissal of a student for a period of three years upon conviction. During this period he cannot be admitted to any other institution. Apart from provisions of the Act, the students who commit the offence of ragging shall also liable to be punished for other offences under Indian Penal Code they commit at the time of offence.
